Sheila Paquette, Visionary

Creativity and imagination are my playground. I have always appreciated the elements of nature-the magnificent textures, colors and shapes present in all life forms. From an early age, these elements have strongly influenced my artistic vision - especially in the fascinating medium of hair.

I have come a long way since I sculpted my first shapes in hair on my unwitting pet poodle. I eventually refined my skills at Mason de Paris and studied color in New York, Amsterdam and at Vidal Sassoon London. Early in my career, I concentrated on photo styling, hair shows and competitions. I simultaneously built a loyal clientele in Greensboro, where I eventually became the owner of Panache Salon on State Street.

I was inspired by my ability to not only transform a client physically but also to uplift them emotionally. This led to a greater personal exploration of the mind, body and spirit connection. It was during a yoga class in the 1970's that I first envisioned creating a salon and spa that acknowledged the strong connection between the mental, physical and spiritual and promoted total health and well-being.

I have always pictured a harmonious space where people could come and celebrate their senses and enhance their self-awareness; a place where you can unwind and take the time to integrate and balance all aspects of their mental, emotional and spiritual sides. This vision has finally been realized.

Chakras Spa will always be an evolving vision, for we are always changing-always finding new ways to express, heal and celebrate ourselves.
